Adiponitrile Market Size will reach to 1.5 million mt in 2024
Adiponitrile is is used to produce hexamethylene diamine which is the key monomer of nylon 66. It is colorless to light yellow liquid at room temperature. There are two industrial production route for adiponitrile:
1. Butadiene route: nickel-catalysed hydrocyanation of butadiene with hydrogen cyanide. It is firstly developed by DuPont (now Invista) at 1970s. It is the most popular production method of adiponitrile.
2. Acrylonitrile route: electrohydrodimerisation of acrylonitrile covert to adiponitrile. This method is invented by Monsanto (now Ascend) at 1960s.
This report covers the industrial chain of Adiponitrile. Following are the industrial chain structure chart:
There are only four industrial producers around the world: Invista, Ascend, Solvay and Asahi Kasei. The following are the facility and production method information:
As the most important nylon 66 production and consumption country, there are several adiponitrile projects is planned. Invista released their adiponitrile projects on August 9, 2018. They plan to begin construction of the new plant, which would have more than 300,000 metric tons (mt) per year of annual capacity, in 2020 and start up in 2023. Anhui Anqing Shuguang Chemical Co., Ltd. release a plan project with 500,000 mt per year of annual capacity in 2018. The phase one of this project will install 3,000 mt per year of annual capacity. The phase one project is finished and start trial production on August 16, 2019.
Global adiponitrile market size was estimated at 1.4 million mt in 2018 and the market size will reach 1.5 million mt in 2024, with a CAGR of 1.2%.
