Neon Gas Producers and Neon Gas Market Trend
Neon gas (Ne) is a colorless, odorless, non-flammable rare gas. Neon content in the air is 18 ppm. Neon gas is the main component of lithography gas, which is a buffer gas for argon (Ar) and krypton (Kr) in lasers and is used in semiconductor manufacturing. The crude helium and neon mixture is extracted from the air separation device by the fractionation method. From the crude helium and neon mixture, the pure neon-helium mixture of above 99.95% is obtained after hydrogen and nitrogen removal, then 99.99% high purity neon can be produced by separation and purification.
The global neon gas market size was 420 tons in 2017, growing to 450 tons in 2022, with a CAGR of 1.4% from 2017 to 2022. Ukraine halts the output of neon gas due to war, but the production can resume quickly after the war. The market size is expected to reach 980 tons globally in 2027, with a CAGR of 16.8% from 2022 to 2027.
Global producers of neon gas include Ingas, Cryoin, Iceblick, Air Products, Air Liquide, Linde, Beijing Shougang Oxygen Plant, HBIS, TEMC, Nippon Sanso. Iceblick, Ingas and Cryoin hold 71.5% of the global neon gas market share.
Neon gas is mainly used in semiconductors, accounting for 75%, followed by Laser eye surgery, accounting for 10%, LCD and Imaging & Lighting, accounting for 6% and 5% respectively.
